The Real Test For Smartness
I started noticing that nobody really thinks they are stupid. Even stupid peopel who really are stupid don’t think they are. They are always throwing charges like, “don’t talk to me like I’m stupid” and it makes you want to tell them how they really are stupid and you can’t help it. But then they probably woulnd’t get it anyway, because, well because they are stupid.
So I think a better measure for you may be to think “am I smart?” Because of the binary nature–you are one or the other. And if you aren’t smart then you must be stupid. These are simple implications that the Greeks figured out when they studied logistics with the Socrates/Aristotle/Plato lineage. I don’t remember the order of them, but they were the great thinkers and all learned from each other.
How do you know if you are smart? One way is to pay attention whether other people call you smart. And it doesn’t count if stupid people say your smart. It has to be smart people that says it. That’s a good indicator to start with. And then like if people come to your blog and make comments about your good ideas you are probably smart too. Most blog readers are smarter by far, so just the fact that they are reading it means you should listen to there comments.
Here are some other ideas to measure it–doing division in your head…just to fractions, don’t worry about decimals. Set your watch ahead or behind by a few minutes and practice calculating the real time in your head also. If you can do that easy there’s a good chance you would be smart. Also things like writing poetry or letters to the editor could be a good indication.

I don’t get it. Just because somebody leave a comment on your blog you are smart? What if the comment just tells you that your post was stupid? Does that mean you are stupid, or do the fact that someone called you stupid combined with the fact that someone commented on your blog cancel each other out and make you average?
By the way, this post was stupid.

man i’ll tell you something. i wrote some crap about a jitterbug ad and was invited to join this site to blog. so i get here (to the site) and i have no idea what in the name of christ is going on. i was gonna write a quick thing about how i can tell when i’m stressed by how long it takes me to get aggravated by a red light but i ddn’t know where to start. no idea. i felt stupid. but i’m thinking that stupidity is separate from inexperience. i’m a fairly intelligent guy but i honestly can’t tell you the first thing about how a bank works. or how to start a topic or a thread. my studio is in a notoriously bad part of town, yadda yadda yadda there was some great pool playing going on there that night, and an anarchist band from spain next door, this is all 4 doors down from my studio, so i wind up hitting my head pretty hard skating home on the emergency shop board. and i’ve hit my head a bunch of times in my life, but 5 weeks later and i still have headaches kinda hard. so i’ve gone out of my way to keep up with my math, to jog my memory for crucial details, to go out of my way to make sure i remember random things. PROGNOSIS POSITIVE! I stopped by the loading dock of my local hospital on a bike ride home from the bar and had a chat with the ER nurses (amazing people here, just listen, be humble and you will learn what it is to be a human being), who assured me i’m going to be okay. did i mention i don’t have health insurance. i think the stupidest thing one can do is to be afraid to ask a ’stupid’ question. i realize how cliche this is but yeah! very nice typing to y’all.
